A commission of a glorious scene, riding a chair lift through the mountains. Skiing and the mountains are a big love of mine so when this client requested this painting, I was thrilled.

Translating the movement from the photography into paint was done using fat and thin brushes with washes and thick marks. 

​

Viewing this painting you can feel the journey through the wind and blue sky. 

​

Each mark represents a movement from ski or snowboard tracks. 

​

It's wonderful to do a piece that incorporated tight technical and abstract representational painting.
