I created this vibrant painting after experiencing a show about the universe, presented by Brian Cox. I was utterly in awe of what is beyond our planet.

This exploding gas giant, captured by nasa Hubble telescope has formed this beautiful scene. A triumph of bright vivid tones and shapes. Absolutely amazing! 

Travelling through my painting, there is a mimicking of this stunning view, but on a much smaller scale. I am so pleased with this finished painting. When I look at it I feel so excited about space and textures and natural happenings! I loved having an excuse to use the brightest palette and work the hues in together on the canvas, understanding how they move and bounce/balance with each other. 

It’s wonderful how paint and a brush can create intricate and strong textures. Layers and layers of paint are on this canvas. Washes and thick glove of it littered across the painting. I love texture in a painting! It makes it come alive. There is so much depth in this piece, I could be in my own space exploration.
